Building Obversive

As we build Obversive on different platforms, we'll place short developer oriented documents here for each platform. They are not complete, and intended for expert only. If you can't figure out how to "Untar the archive" then you will either need to learn on your own or just download an installer or package. Obversive is different from other Open Source projects in that we do not expect you to build it from source. Only developers or those who like building things from source should do that.

Here's the platforms we currently have documentation for:

MandrakeLinux

Tested on 9.1, will probably work on others.

DebianLinux

Tested on unstable (whatever they are calling that these days).

NetBSD

This one is realy painful and does not work yet.

MacOSX

Test with OSX 10.2. You'll need Fink unless you want to cry.

WindowsXP

Probably works on other windows variants, but who knows.

If you would like to port Obversive to other platforms, it's really easy. Try building it on each of the above so you can understand how we ported it, then read the PortingObversive document.
